The Loch Raven Reservoir Bathymetric Map is based on surveys conducted by Maryland Geological Survey in November 1997. The contour interval is 10 feet. The shoreline was digitized by the U.S. Geological Survey from 1994 digital orthophotoquadranlges. We do not yet have paper copies available of this map. When paper copies are available we will update this page with information on how to obtain them. If you have access to a large-format color printer you can print this map yourself from the PDF file.

This map is part of Maryland Geological Survey's Gunpowder Watershed study. The study examines the bathymetry and sedimentation of the Prettyboy and Loch Raven reservoirs. A final report for this study is now available online. See Bathymetric Survey and Sedimentation Analysis of Loch Raven and Prettyboy Reservoirs for an abstract and downloadable files. For other online publications, see the C&E Geology online publications page.

A graph of Loch Raven Reservoir capacity versus water level is included in this report. The graph indicates how the volume and surface area of the changes as the water level changes.
